Handicapped team accorded warm welcome

Pakistan handicapped cricket team reached Wagah border on Tuesday morning, amid rousing welcome accorded to them.

Nuzhat Seemi Abbas along with other dignitaries, who came from Islamabad, were also present there to welcome the team. A large number of fans were also present there to receive them and they danced on the drum beats and raised slogans ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. Pakistan team reached home after completing the India tour on a high as they won ODI series 2-1 and one-off T20 against the arch-rivals.

The players’ families belonging to Lahore and adjacent areas were also present on the occasion. They lauded the team, manager Nasir Mehmood Ch and coach Tahir Mehmood. PCAPH Director Coordination M Ishfaq Chatha thanked guests who came here to welcome them.

Ishfaq Chatha said Pakistan proved that they had the desire and urge to excel at the highest level. “We have offered Indian team to tour Pakistan in March to play three ODIs and two T20s in Islamabad which they have accepted. The dates and other formalities will be finalised soon and will be made public.”

Meanwhile, Director PR Sheikh Abdul Waheed said they had very constructive meetings with Indian officials and they promised them to provide every help to Pakistan in organising the first SAARC Cricket Championship for the handicapped players and would also share the expenses. Indian cricket board officials would soon visit Pakistan to finalise all the matters in this regard, he concluded.
