Kuwait, Aug , 2013 – Pakistani Blood Donors in Kuwait, a social welfare group in collaboration with Kuwait Central Blood Bank, held their third blood donation drive in Kuwait on Friday, August 2nd at the Central Blood Blank in Jabriya. The event was organized in response to call from Kuwait Central Blood Bank requesting Pakistani community to support blood bank as their blood stocks hits lowest levels. Responding to the call, “Pakistani Blood Donors in Kuwait” managed this event on an emergency basis. A huge number of Pakistanis attended the event with the purpose of expressing solidarity and gratitude to the country while strengthening brotherly relations and credentials as a socially responsible community in Kuwait. Expressing his views and commenting on behalf of the welfare group, H.E, Syed Abrar Hussain, also a blood donor at the event said, “we remember 2nd August 1990 when Iraq brutally invaded a brother Muslim country and exercised all inhuman tactics against Kuwaiti nationals and expats at that time in Kuwait. Pakistan army was part of collation forces those who fought Iraq to free Kuwait and Pakistani soldiers offered their lives and blood. Today again, Pakistani civilians honored the call of Kuwait Blood Bank and we are here to serve Kuwait and Humanity by means of donating our blood.” The ambassador was received and greeted by Mr. Ali Al Mhmeed, the Head of Public Relations and Doctor Ossama Sharawi at the Kuwait Central Blood Bank. Stressing further on the Pakistani community’s role in Kuwait, H.E., Syed Abrar said, “Pakistan and Kuwait enjoy bi-lateral relations based on common faith and culture and the Pakistani community in Kuwait holds leadership of Kuwait in high esteem. The community is desirous of expanding and strengthening bilateral relations with Kuwait in all domains”. The event witnessed a large attendance of over 250 attendees but only few over 100 able to make donation due to time restrictions, mostly of Pakistani heritage who have been living and working in Kuwait with their families for over a well number of years and have always considered this country as their second home. Moreover, immense support was shown from prominent Pakistani communities such as Hala Pakistan, Help Desk for Pakistani Community in Kuwait, Kuwait Pakistan Friendship Association, Pakistan Business Council and Pakistan Employment Forum Kuwait. Also Club 25, a group of young Kuwaitis actively took part with Pakistanis Blood Donors in Kuwait. The participation also represented a strong and humanitarian message that exemplified a sincere contribution to provide support to needy individuals of the community, especially those in need of rare types of blood. The community had exceeded the expected turnout and has responded with enthusiasm to the donation drive and expressed their willingness to take part in donating blood. The Pakistani Blood Donors in Kuwait group aspires to inspire other people among the community to donate blood and thus increasing the awareness in the Kuwait society on lives that can be saved with blood donation.
