Chinese to be taught at school level

KARACHI – Karachi University will set up Chinese language institute and students of this institute will be able to study free advance course at Sichuan Normal University, China. KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Muhammad Qaiser informed after his return from China.

KU VC Qaiser and KU Registrar Mansoor Ahmed made a visit to China to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between KU and Sichuan Normal University, China. According to the MoU, the University will set up a Confucius Institute for Chinese language at the campus and will disseminate the knowledge of this language among students.

The MoU signing ceremony was an extension of the agreement signed between the governments of Pakistan and China according to which, Pakistan will make arrangements for teaching of Chinese language at Primary to Higher Secondary level of education in the country.The Sichuan Normal University will award masters degree of Chinese language after the completion of a two year program at its campus.

A presentation based on the introduction of University of Karachi was also given which was highly appraised. New horizons of collaborative research in various fields will also be explored by these two Universities.
