ISLAMABAD – While speaking on the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, on Monday announced that a degree college would be established in Islamabad for persons with disabilities.
The event was organised by Directorate General of Special Education & Social Welfare, Ministry of Capital Administration & Development here in Islamabad. The minister further said that all the efforts will be made for the realisation of the rights of Persons with Disabilities and special measures will be taken up to speed up the implementation of all the relevant laws for disabled community.
Zamurd Khan, Managing Director, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal said special children are the special friends of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and a special initiatives program has been conceived to provide social protection to Persons with Disabilities. He further shared that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal provided 90,000 wheelchairs, 20,000 white canes,30,000 hearing aids along with provision of uniforms to children of Special Education Center working under the Directorate General of Special Education & Social Welfare, Ministry of Capital Administration & Development.
Earlier, a colorful performance was presented by the Special Children from National Special Education Centers working under the Directorate General of Special Education in connection with International Disabled Day.
International Day for Persons with Disabilities is celebrated throughout the world as an annual feature on December 3 every year in order to show solidarity with Persons with Disabilities. Pakistan joins hands with the international community on this day in observing the International Day for the Persons with Disabilities with the pledge that we redoubled our efforts to provide equal opportunities to the Persons with Disabilities. The theme of International Day for Persons with Disabilities 2012 is “Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all”.
